Like many reviewers I started to read this not expecting much for my 77
pence. How wrong I was, from the first page the story gripped and did
not let up until the last. One of the most original books I have read in
a long time, made more so by the fact that the author has no previous
experience of writing prior to this. The style therefore is one that
reminded me of an extended piece of writing that would be done in an
English lesson at school under the heading 'An exciting Tale!' and is
all the more enthralling because of this. The story charts the demise
of Dave, who manages a portfolio of high end properties in Central
London and lives the stereotypical yuppie lifestyle. All this disappears
in one mad drunken moment which results in him losing his job and
fleeing to Spain where he encounters a rollercoster lifestyle of drugs,
drink, women and non stop partying. Dave's life comes crashing down one
night when, on leaving a party, he encounters a horrific hotel fire
which, as a result, turns his life upside down.
Genuinely
suspenseful, with more twists and turns than a corkscrew, 'Wrong
Place,Wrong Time' lives up to it's name. Easy to read, hard to put down,
I devoured it in one sitting. One of the books that, for me anyway,
will stay with me for some time....heartily recommended.
