A Q & A with author Jordan Thomas!
What inspired you to begin writing? Music inspired me to write, specifically songwriting. The joy of interpreting one's thoughts into something so beautiful and melodic is mesmerizing.
Why did you focus on this genre?I focus on this particular genre (poetry) because it's an effective form of expressing my thoughts clearly and authentically. There is no fluff in my poetry. In some poems there is some extended vocabulary but that isn't to be pretentious, I've studied those words for years reading the thesaurus.
Are you working on any other books?For now yes, but at a much slower pace due to my new job and the upcoming college quarter next month. This next one will be a departure from poetry and will focus on the importance of creativity and how it has shaped my life.
Okay, here's a challenge. Sum up your current book in TWO sentences.My current book (Ascension: The Journey Continues) is semi-autobiographical.
It is what I refer to as poetic motivation to everyday things.

What are the 3 words that best describe you?Creative, Sensitive, and Honest
Tell us about your work, away from writing?My soon-to-be work which I start this Friday will be as a team member of a fabric and crafts store named Joann's. This job I believe will be great for me since it requires creative people. It will give me a chance to step out of my comfort zone and out of shyness.
What hobbies do you enjoy?Aside from writing, I enjoy reading, singing, dancing, playing piano, going for walks, and at times, meditation.
What would people be most surprised to see on your Kindle or bookshelf?I don't think anyone will be surprised. What I pretty much read currently is the Bible, motivational books from those such as Grant Cardone, Les Brown, etc, as well as Christian devotional/leadership books from people like Sam Chand.
What are you currently reading?I'm currently reading The Bible (Psalms 34) as well as The Purpose-Driven Life by Rick Warren.
Tell me your 3 favourite authors?My three favorite authors include Sam Chand, Grant Cardone, and Nelson Mandela
I love music, and always interested in the musical tastes of other people. Tell me your 3 favourite songs, if you can?At the moment, my three favorite songs include Change by Andrea Helms, Damnable Heresies by Lauryn Hill, and More Than You Know by Sarah Vaughan.
What song best describes your life?At this point, the song that best describes my life is I Look To You by Whitney Houston because in the midst of seeking the purpose intended for me, there are going to be obstructions but if I keep the Creator in mind in where I'm headed in life, then any chance of the enemy causing blockage will be eliminated.
In the story of your life, who would you like to play you?In years to come, I would like my future son to play me. But that won't be happening in a long time. For now, I can't really say who.
Who is the person, living or dead, you would most like to spend a day with?I'd like to personally spend a day with many people, mostly friends I have yet to meet in actuality and to spend time with them would be such an amazing day for me.
Finally, what's next for you? My second year of college is next for me as well as this job. In terms of projects, my third book which will be titled Lead, Don't Follow after what my dad has told me all my life will be out in early 2017.
