They trusted the Investment Manager because he had been a member for a number of years and those who invested early proved the scheme worked by sharing details of their returns with the others. The plan fails and they lose their savings, the first book tells how they formulate a plan to get their money back because they know, going to the Police will get the fraudster arrested but not necessarily the return of their money which they believe has been secreted off-shore. The plan they devise results in the fraudster believing his wife had been kidnapped and she is threaten with murder if he doesn't pay the ransom. He has no idea who is behind the kidnapping but, having seen a picture of his wife at home tied up with a gun held against her head he is convinced his choice is as bleak as this. Two CID officers are shot, one golfer is shot and the fraudster has to decide whether the safety of his wife is worth the payment of £millions secured off shore.
