From Book to Movie

Well hello, it's been a long time, five months in fact. So here I am, around ten thirty at night in the UK and I thought it was about time I ventured onto my blog and write something, anything about my life, writing, books, oh and films.

I'm currently writing my first fiction book. I've written about thirteen thousands words, which is not a great amount I know, but I'm writing a three or four book series, each of which will contain around twenty thousand words. So, three or four short stories about an author, actually, a struggling author who commits murders. I'll not be saying anything else, as I feel I have given away far too much already, but this project I am very excited about.

Talking, or writing of projects, I do have further exciting news to announce, which some of you may  have heard about already. Have you read the #1 BESTSELLER a true story called, Wrong Place Wrong Time? No, why not? Just kidding, anyway, last week I signed contracts with a film production company, who will be turning Wrong Place Wrong Time into a film. Yes, a movie of one of my books. As I am writing this, I still can't take it all in. You could say it hasn't sunk in yet, and you would be right.

Of course it's very early stages in the planning, but even to think that my book could be seen on the big screen is so exciting. I will have full access to the production, scriptwriters, casting, on location etc., so the full experience of being on a movie set, which is something that I've always wanted to do.

But this movie set will be of my making. 

Anyway, that's a wrap.

Seven Zero

I looked up at the two digits above the front door.

Seven. Zero.

The familiar numbers set behind a pane of glass that retained a long-standing crack stretched across the zero, were lodged inside a small box, embedded within the white painted wall.

But I hadn’t thought I’d be looking at them again quite so soon. 

Pressing the enamel doorbell which was encircled by a rusty silver frame, I looked down at the well-trodden welcome mat beneath my black shoes and studied the loose fibres detaching themselves in all directions as I anxiously wiped my worn, now well-travelled leather soles.

Twelve seconds later the silhouette of a figure appeared behind the door which then started to swing backwards.

As it disappeared into the shadow of the hallway, a face emerged, bathed in a golden glow as, at that moment, the sun escaped from behind the clouds above. 

It was Dad. 

‘Hello David,’ he said, shaking his head, with an animated smile.

All I noticed however, was what was hidden behind his welcoming facial expression.

His kind eyes telling me,

‘I knew this was going to happen.’

This was certainly a statement that represented David P. Perlmutter's true life account in "Wrong Place Wrong Time". So many wrongly made split second decisions that impacted on the rest of his life, especially when in the wrong place at the wrong time!!
This book is brilliant and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish, I would highly recommend you try and read this in one sitting as it's very addictive.
All the way through this compelling read you feel you are with David every step of the way - from his everyday job in an estate agency to the unfortunate events that followed - feeling all his emotions from fear and guilt to shame and relief. There was so much build up of anticipation throughout, the fear and terror was palpable. As a parent of three teenage sons I'm now going to be dreading them taking their first holiday abroad with their mates!
Lots of varied characters make up this story some nice some not so nice, I particularly liked 'Son of Elvis' - what a great character he was. The harrowing account of the filthy, dark and dank police cells were very descriptive and I can't imagine the true horror David went through during those days with only orange peel to keep him company!
"Wrong Place Wrong Time" is a very exciting book with some cliffhanger moments leaving you wondering what will happen next and at times screaming at him 'don't do it!'
I would highly recommend you put this book on your to read list but perhaps best not read if you're on holiday in Spain......."

As well as the action, I enjoyed the local color and characters in this novel. Looking forward to the next book in the series, that is if CJ and Stella decide to continue taking on risky cases. This one almost ended in disaster."

In the characters of Charlie and his sidekick Patrick you have interesting and well developed characters, who still have shades of grey within them. However this New work from Owen takes all of these concepts to the Max. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, it's one of those devour in one sitting kind of novels. The story develops well you could read this as a standalone, but for Charlie fans the novel continues to give us more information about all the characters we've grown to love. Owen Mullen has always been a 5* read for me and this new book is no exception."
