 Particles in the Air

(A Dr. Mallory Hayes Medical Thriller)

by Dr. Jenna Podjasek

In the wake of a natural disaster, a new pandemic is unleashed...

Dr. Mallory Hayes, a Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) medical investigator, is a committed physician and researcher quietly battling height and air-flight anxiety.

When a tsunami devastates the coast of Southern California, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) establishes a camp to house the tens of thousands of people displaced by the disaster, and the Army is brought in to provide medical services.

Mallory is dispatched to the camp by the CDC to prevent the potential spread of disease from contaminated water. What she discovers is far worse than anything she could have imagined—an accelerated HIV-like virus, and a common, everyday microbe, are proving to be extremely deadly.

Diego's Guitar (The Reluctant Pilgrim Book 3) by Stephen R. Marriott

 Diego's Guitar

(The Reluctant Pilgrim Book 3)

by Stephen R. Marriott

A broken rock star. A chance encounter. A road to starting over. This is the dramatic conclusion of the bestselling Reluctant Pilgrim trilogy.

Diego thought he had it all: money, fame, a life of luxury and a beautiful wife. Then, at the pinnacle of international stardom, his world comes crashing down when his wife suddenly leaves him. Desperate for answers, Diego meets Nessie, a high-spirited backpacker, and is presented with an opportunity to walk along the only road he has ever been happy on.

This moving stand-alone story builds on Diego's Camino de Santiago journeys of the first two books in this trilogy, taking us on a deeply personal adventure that begins on the stage of a rock concert and ends with the discovery of a treasured flamenco guitar.

Along the way, Diego manages to lose everything he ever thought he loved... but discover his true self and purpose in the process. With the Camino Portugués as the vivid backdrop we may recognise ourselves in the pilgrims Diego encounters on his journey, and the inner conflicts he must face and overcome.

Diego's Guitar is a compelling story of one man's struggle to find himself in the remnants of a rock and roll career. If you love quirky characters, Spain and Portugal, and are curious about the mysterious Camino de Santiago pilgrimage, then you'll love the final instalment of the Reluctant Pilgrim series.

by E.M. Taylor

Junior year wasn't supposed to be this deadly...

Madison Stone is just an ordinary girl; a junior in high school, worried about keeping her grades up and how she can make life easier for her hard working, single father... and she's in love with a guy that doesn't feel the same way. Her life is completely normal. Well, except for the fact that she's a werewolf, and nobody can ever find out.

Protecting that secret has always been easy. Madison keeps to herself, except for those rare occasions when her former best friend, Henry, hangs out with her at the pack headquarters. But that all changes when attacks across the border in Canada threaten to expose the existence of supernatural beings.

With most of the pack away hunting down the killer, Madison and Henry are left behind to defend their territory when a stranger arrives in their secluded town of Havencrest, Maine. Tensions are high as secrets and deceits are revealed, and a sleepy town is thrust into a war that they know nothing about. Will the pack survive the winter? Or will their secret be discovered?

This Bird Has Flown by Susanna Hoffs

 This Bird Has Flown

by Susanna Hoffs

A delightfully funny and romantic debut novel from Susanna Hoffs, the celebrated performer and co-founder of The Bangles, that is 'part romcom, part Jane Eyre, and one hundred 'percent enjoyable (Tom Perrotta).

Jane Start is thirty-three, broke, and recently single. Ten years prior, she had a hit song-written by world-famous superstar Jonesy-but Jane hasn't had a breakout since. Now she's living out of four garbage bags at her parents' house, reduced to performing to Karaoke tracks in Las Vegas. Rock bottom.

But when her longtime manager Pippa sends Jane to London to regroup, she's seated next to an intriguing stranger on the flight-the other Tom Hardy, an elegantly handsome Oxford professor of literature. Jane is instantly smitten by Tom, and soon, truly inspired. But it's not Jane's past alone that haunts her second chance at stardom, and at love. Is Tom all that he seems? And can Jane emerge from the shadow of Jonesy's earlier hit, and into the light of her own?

In turns deeply sexy, riotously funny, and utterly joyful, This Bird Has Flown explores love, passion, and the ghosts of our past, and offers a glimpse inside the music business that could only come from beloved songwriter Susanna Hoffs.

BEING HENRY The Fonz...and Beyond By Henry Winkler

 BEING HENRY The Fonz...and Beyond

By Henry Winkler

From Emmy-award winning actor, author, comedian, producer, and director Henry Winkler, a deeply thoughtful memoir of the lifelong effects of stardom and the struggle to become whole.

Henry Winkler, launched into prominence by his role as “The Fonz” in the beloved Happy Days, has transcended the role that made him who he is. Brilliant, funny, and widely-regarded as the nicest man in Hollywood (though he would be the first to tell you that it’s simply not the case, he’s really just grateful to be here), Henry shares in this achingly vulnerable memoir the disheartening truth of his childhood, the difficulties of a life with severe dyslexia, the pressures of a role that takes on a life of its own, and the path forward once your wildest dream seems behind you.

Since the glorious era of Happy Days fame, Henry has endeared himself to a new generation with roles in such adored shows as Arrested Development, Parks and Recreation, and Barry, where he’s revealed himself as an actor with immense depth and pathos, a departure from the period of his life when he was so distinctly typecast as The Fonz, he could hardly find work.

Filled with profound heart, charm, and self-deprecating humor, Being Henry is a memoir about so much more than a life in Hollywood and the curse of stardom. It is a meaningful testament to the power of sharing truth and kindness and of finding fulfillment within yourself.

New Tokyo by Marc Foxx

 New Tokyo

by Marc Foxx

Year 2117. Japan struggles to preserve its culture in the aftermath of rampant third-world migration and international pressures. Mega-corporations ostensibly enhance everyday life with new technologies amidst rising crime and poverty. The country is plagued by ethnic and religious terrorism. Only the wealthy can afford to live in the safety of New Tokyo, a cutting-edge metropolis built upon the vestige of the once-great Old Tokyo below. It obscures the sun for those unfortunate to live beneath in perpetual night.

There lives former police sergeant Jacob Raburn. One-quarter Japanese, his tendency to play by his own rules eventually caught up to him. Recently divorced and forced into early retirement at the age of 37, Jacob finds his partial pension payments lacking. He reminisces about an idyllic past as he seeks out a new source of income and a better life.

A chance opportunity from a former commanding officer appears to be the break he’s looking for—but things are not always what they seem. In his search for the truth, Jacob uncovers more than he could have imagined. With the help of unlikely and sometimes unsavoury allies, Jacob comes to question exactly who and what he’s fighting for.

Driving Forwards: A journey of resilience and empowerment after life-changing injury by Sophie L Morgan

 Driving Forwards:

A journey of resilience and empowerment after life-changing injury

by Sophie L Morgan

On the precipice of starting her adult life, aged eighteen, Sophie, a rebellious and incorrigible wild child, crashed her car and was instantly paralysed from the chest down. Rushed to hospital, everything she had dreamed for her life was instantly forgotten and her journey to rediscover herself and build a different life began. But being told she would never walk again would come to be the least of her concerns.

Over the next eighteen years, as she strived to come to terms with the change in her body, her relationships were put to the test; she has had to learn to cope with the many unexpected and unpredictable setbacks of living with paralysis; she has had to overcome her own and other people's perceptions of disability and explore the limits of her abilities, all whilst searching for love, acceptance, meaning, identity, and purpose.

Driving Forwards is a remarkable and powerful memoir, detailing Sophie's life-changing injury, her recovery, and her life since. Strikingly honest, her story is unusual and yet relatable, inspiring us to see how adversity can be channelled into opportunity and how ongoing resilience can ultimately lead to empowerment.

'A book that'll change your perspective on life. You'll not be able to put it down.' Fearne Cotton

'Everyone should read this book. Sophie Morgan is the epitome of grit and determination. Her writing is thought provoking, honest and in parts hilarious.' Katie Piper OBE

'Raw, life affirming and gorgeously written - this book is filled with extraordinary honesty, courage and warmth. Sophie's words will make us all braver and more hopeful.' Daisy Buchanan

'F***king hell!! This book is absolutely brilliant . . . One of the best memoirs I've ever read. Honest and so blooming human, it's fantastic.' Kathy Burke
