Elderberry & Jones Mysteries: The Jewel Heist (Elderberry and Jones Mysteries) by Rae Lawrence

 Elderberry & Jones Mysteries:

The Jewel Heist (Elderberry and Jones Mysteries)

by Rae Lawrence

Oliver Jones (Liverpudlian lad who has moved to Manchester) and Ellie Elderberry (a yellow-haired fairy from Charming Wood) become fast, and unlikely friends, despite Ellie’s constant mistaken pronunciation of Lee-ver-pool, because she’s only just learning English. They visit Charming Wood through the small wooden door in Oliver’s back garden wall and discover that Queen Questra’s tiara has been stolen by the ghost of a famous olden-days robber. Oliver is the son of a detective constable, so he “knows what he’s doing”. The children investigate and search for clues and ultimately, set a clever trap to catch the culprit and bring them to justice.

Written as a short chapter book with special consideration for struggling readers, this book will appeal to children aged 6-10.

About us: Katie and Hannah Pancoast are twins (aged 7.5, going on 15) who live in Cheshire with their mum (scribe/co-author), Rae Lawrence. At age 7, both girls were diagnosed as dyslexic; however, their verbal/vocabulary scores were off the charts. Their enthusiasm and creativity has no boundaries, which explains why their home is always in a state of delightful chaos.

The twins decided that writing a chapter book was a great chance to show off to their friends at school that they are extremely clever, despite their ongoing struggles with reading. Armed with great ideas and a wicked sense of humour, they collaborated with their mum to create characters, a plot, and make some very funny jokes that would appeal to kids just like them. While Mum gave them a few ideas to help and the words to tell the story in a readable way, this story is almost entirely theirs.
