Infinitely Far Away

In the cold depths of space a disembodied Mind moves, once human but now insane with the loneliness of aeons he decides to die. But there is one loose end, Amy, daughter of the Master and the only being he has ever loved. Travelling back in time to see her before ending his life, he is lost to his obsession. Consumed by desire, he decides to alter her brain so she can join him in the Aether.

But the Master also has his own plans for Amy.

He discovers that he has brain cancer, with only a month or two to live, he has two things to do. Restore his relationship with Amy, his adopted daughter and see a Philosopher called Kevin, who lives in a cave, to discuss the meaning of life in general and his life in particular.

Kevin proves to be incompetent but shows him Amy’s fate, to commit suicide after the death of her lover. The Master makes a deal with Kevin to change her fate, with the help of the Mentor, a shadowy entity belonging to a race of immortal beings.

There is a price, however, that the Master may not want to pay. A dark tale set in an alternative, Edwardian present, the story stretches over three generations from the Great Mutiny of 1914 onward to the present.
